LAWGAMES

Use it or lose it.

LAWGAMES exist to give your brain something hard to do every day. On National Train Your Brain Day we put the day's takings behind that.

The daily case is the point

Reading a set of facts closely, holding two competing arguments in your head, committing to a decision and then finding out whether you were right is demanding mental work. It's the kind of sustained, novel, effortful thinking that people who study healthy ageing keep coming back to when they talk about cognitive engagement. We don't claim a puzzle prevents anything — nobody can — but we do think doing something difficult with your mind every day is worth building a habit around, and that a real court case beats a word grid for keeping it interesting.

The pledge

Every year on 13 October — National Train Your Brain Day — 100% of that day's GUILTY or NOT? net proceeds go to Alzheimer's research and care.

Guaranteed minimum: US$500 a year, every year from 2026 to 2035, whatever the day brings in. We publish the amount and the recipient by 13 November each year.

Net proceeds means every GUILTY or NOT? payment settled on 13 October (Eastern time) less payment-processing fees and refunds. Bet! GUILTY or NOT? runs on play money, so it has nothing to give — but it carries the badge because it's part of the same daily habit. Sober As A Judge and the Canadian edition aren't part of the pledge.

The recipient organisation will be named here once the agreement with them is signed.

What the badge means

When you see the USE IT OR LOSE IT! pill in the footer of a LAWGAMES title, that title is part of the pledge. Tap it and it brings you here.
