- The case is heard. The charge, the facts, and what each side argues.

- The real ruling is revealed. Anyone the court overruled takes the forfeit. Next case.
Two ways to play
Sober As A Judge is the drinking version for adults. The family-friendly version keeps the courtroom and the real cases, replaces the forfeit with points, and draws on cases that are appropriate for kids and teens. Both are on the same site.
Themed dockets
Beyond the standard docket, the Play Pass adds curated sets of real cases around a theme — heists, Wall Street, Prohibition, the Red Scare and more. Pick a docket that fits the table and the night.

- How many people can play?
- As many as fit around the table. Everyone joins the same trial from their own phone; nothing to install.
- Do we have to drink?
- No. The family-friendly version swaps the forfeit for points, and the cases are chosen to be suitable for all ages. The rules page explains both.
- Are the cases real?
- Every one. They're real American criminal decisions with a primary-source citation and link on the reveal.
- What's a themed docket?
- A curated set of cases around one idea — heists, Wall Street, Prohibition, the Red Scare. Every docket is included in the Play Pass, and all of them are free for everyone until 31 October 2026.
